Image that could help police catch man breaking into cars

Police hunting for a car thief have released a CCTV image of a man who they think could help their investigation.

Officers say they are aware of a number of items being stolen from cars parked in Bromborough. In one incident, on Bowness Avenue, they say a coat, sunglasses and aftershave were taken after cars were broken into during the night.

On another evening it was reported that a man had been trying to get into parked cars on Pool Lane. Items reported stolen included a laptop, purse and bank cards.

Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and detectives have issued CCTV images of a man they believe could assist in their investigation.

Tim Cottrell, community policing sergeant for Bromborough, said: "I am appealing to the man featured in these images, or anyone who recognises him to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.

"Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact us @MerPolCC on Twitter, ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook or ring 101 with reference 22000356642. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111."
