IKEA confirms plans to open new 'pop-up' store in Ireland with one town a frontrunner

IKEA has confirmed that it is considering a vacant space in Naas, Co. Kildare for its next venture.

It was reported earlier this morning that the popular furniture manufacturer had shown interest in opening at North Main Street, near the existing Dunnes Store outlet.

The building of interest was formerly known as the Grandstand pub, and a representative for the company that owns the space confirmed the interest from IKEA.

A spokesperson for the Scandinavian chain told the Irish Mirror they are in fact considering the space to open a pop-up in Kildare.

Should they go ahead with their plans, it would be transformed into a temporary furniture planning unit where customers can book appointments to create the perfect kitchen, bedroom, and living room designs.

The spokesperson said: “We can confirm that IKEA is considering a vacant premises situated on North Main Street, Naas in County Kildare.

"We are always exploring new ways to become even more accessible to customers and should we choose to occupy the retail space, the ambition is to launch a temporary ‘pop-up’ furniture planning unit that will allow our customers the opportunity to book a consultation with our experienced IKEA co-workers on the coordination of kitchens, wardrobes, and living rooms.

"Offering an affordable and accessible destination for local residents to enjoy IKEA design experience and expertise closer to home.”
