Iceland over 60 discount, how the money off offer works, what you can buy and where

Shoppers aged 60 and over can grab a weekly discount in Iceland from today. The supermarket offers the 10% off deal on Tuesdays from now until at least late July.

Eligible shoppers - who may be asked to show an ID or bus pass to prove their age - can get the discount on products in Iceland and Food Warehouse stores. There are Iceland supermarkets across the North East. The Food Warehouse - which are larger than most Iceland branded shops - has stores in Kingston Park and Byker in Newcastle, Sunderland, North Shields, and Washington.

Iceland says the deal aims to help older shoppers during the cost of living crisis. It launched on Tuesday May 24 and will run every Tuesday until July 24, 2023, the terms and conditions state.

What can I use the over 60s discount on in Iceland and Food Warehouse?

Iceland says the discount is available on "qualifying goods" - so some products may be excepted. The discount can not be used to buy alcohol in Scotland or Wales, due to minimum alcohol pricing, but in England it can, the terms and conditions indicate. However, some "in store promotions" are excluded, as are carrier bags.

Customers can buy a maximum of five of the same item and still use the discount. Any more is considered "bulk" purchasing and the discount will be removed.

Iceland also reserves the "reserves the right to withdraw, terminate or temporarily suspend the discount in whole or in part at any time".

Where can I use Iceland's over 60s discount?

Shoppers aged over 60 can use the 10% discount in all Iceland and Food Warehouse stores. The discount can not be used in The Range or Swift branded stores.

Do I need ID to prove I'm over 60?

You may do! Iceland says customers should bring an ID to claim the 10% discount. They will accept valid Senior Bus Passes, Driving Licences, Senior Railcards and the Freedom Pass.
