Iceland launches new value essentials range to help combat rising food prices

Iceland is helping shoppers beat soaring food prices during the cost of living crisis by announcing the launch of a new range of cheaper everyday essentials.

Available in Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores now, the frozen supermarket giant's new range promises to help shoppers keep their grocery bills down with prices starting at just 69p.

The affordable new range will include a variety of grocery list essentials, including fruit, butter, crumpets, eggs, oil, sausages and much more. It comes just as families and households across the country have been battling rising prices across food, energy bills and petrol due to rising inflation levels.

Shoppers have been hit with even higher prices at the supermarket, as the latest figures from Kantar found that the UK's grocery price inflation has soared to a record high of 11.6%. It means that Iceland's affordable new range has come right at the moment when the average annual grocery bills are set to increase by a whopping £533.

The supermarket chain's affordable new range will allow shoppers to pick up everyday essentials at affordable prices, such as Lathum’s Loaves Medium Sliced White Bread (69p, 800g), Warburton’s Crumpets (85p, 6pk) and Easy Peelers (£1.00, 500g).

And for those who have been struggling with the soaring cost of Lurpak butter, there is Iceland's own-branded 'dupe' Dairypak. Priced at £2 for a 500g tub, the supermarket's own version is a much cheaper alternative to the Danish-owned brand which made headlines for costing up to £9 in some stores.

Morning meal times can also be more affordable with the supermarket's fry-up essentials which includes the Spring Vale Pork Sausages (£1.00, 400g), Oakpark Smoked Back Bacon (£1.00, 5 rashers) and Iceland Mixed Weight Free Range Eggs (£1.00, 6pk).

Parents can also fill their little ones packed lunch for less now the kids are back at school, as the supermarket's range includes Deli Co Cooked Ham (£1.00, 90g) and Iceland Mild White Cheddar (£1.50, 220g) which can be used for the simple, but classic, ham and cheese sandwich.

The affordable new range is the latest incentive to be offered by the frozen foods giant to help shoppers during the cost of living crisis. These include a £1 price freeze on products from its value frozen range, a 10% discount for over 60s on Tuesdays and a £30 voucher for pensioners.

Last week The Daily Record reported how the supermarket chain had also launched an interest-free loan scheme to with ethical lender Fair For You to help customers with their food shop.
