Iceland launches flash sale with a third off to rival Amazon Prime Day

Frozen food retailer Iceland has launched a day of discounts to rival Amazon’s Prime Day sale, saving shoppers around a third of the cost of 42 products it claims that “families need the most”.

The products on offer in the Discount Dash event include household staples such as squash, oven chips, toilet rolls and washing powder, as well as savings on selected electrical appliances such as an air fryer and a karaoke machine. Some of the TGI Friday fakeaway range is also included in the event.

Best buys include 2L of Diet Pepsi or Pepsi Max for £1 (£1.99 or two bottles £3.50 for Clubcard holders at Tesco), 24 Velvet toilet rolls for £8.50 (£10.50 Tesco) and Robinson's Double Strength squash at £1.75 (£3.50 at Tesco or £2 for Clubcard holders). Selected TGI Fridays pizzas are £3 instead of £4.50.

Also on offer is a Salter AeroGrill Pro, reduced from £129 to £95 and a Tower 4L air fryer, reduced from £49.99 to £40.

Iceland Foods and The Food Warehouse group buying director Andrew Staniland told Grocery Gazette: “We know how popular events like Amazon’s Prime Day are for the public, but we wanted to make something more accessible for our customers – providing great deals on value items to meet household needs with our Discount Dash. It is just another opportunity for our customers to make the most of unmissable value at Iceland.”

The deals are available instore and online, but are only available today.
