ICE officer in fatal Maine shooting was hired within the past year, report says

Ice Maine Joan Sebastian Guerrero

Joan Sebastian Guerrero, a 26-year-old Colombian man with an authorized work visa, was fatally shot by federal agents in Biddeford, Maine , on Monday morning.
Guerrero was not the target of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation, which was conducting surveillance for an individual with a removal order.
The ICE officer involved in the fatal shooting was reportedly hired by ICE this past year.
Following the incident, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin directed ICE to temporarily suspend all vehicle stops nationwide.
The shooting sparked widespread protests and vigils across Maine, with demonstrators demanding accountability and Senator Susan Collins calling for a full and impartial investigation.
