Ian Wright singles out the West Ham player who can be unstoppable for David Moyes

Ian Wright believes West Ham will get results if they can keep Michail Antonio fit between now and the end of the season.

The 29-year-old was a key man in the 3-1 win against Southampton, with Antonio netting the third goal for the Hammers and providing the assist for Sebastien Haller's goal.

It was the second time this season that the pair had combined up front against Southampton, after Haller netted the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win at St Mary's in December.

And Wright felt that Antonio was pivotal to both victories, with the former Arsenal and West Ham striker full of praise for the forward.

West Ham fans protest against club's owners

“I watched him against Southampton earlier in the season and he was virtually unstoppable," he said, speaking on BBC programme Match of the Day 2.

“If they can keep him fit and keep him going, with people supporting [Sebastien] Haller, who looked a lot better using his physical presence to make things happen, there are good signs for West Ham.

“If he does that, then West Ham will get results."

However, both Wright and fellow pundit Jermaine Jenas had a word of warning for West Ham boss David Moyes and Antonio, who has had injury problems in recent times.

“West Ham fans love that he never stops running, to the point where he needs to start managing how much he is running," said Wright.

Jenas agreed, adding: “Everything he does, he sprints and he needs to pick his moments."

The Match of the Day 2 pundits were not the only ones impressed with Antonio though, with BBC pundit Garth Crooks including the West Ham man in his team of the week after his performance against Southampton.
