Ian Wright names the most important factor is Tottenham's win over Crystal Palace

Former Crystal Palace striker Ian Wright has claimed that the intensity of Tottenham's players was what caused problems for the Eagles in Saturday's game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Spurs came out as 4-0 winners in the Premier League encounter, with a brace from Son Heung-min adding to a Patrick Van Aanholt own goal and an Erik Lamela strike, perhaps surprisingly, Spurs talisman Harry Kane was not on the score sheet.

All of the goals came in the first half, and Wright has said that the quick start to the game from Mauricio Pochettino's men was too much for Palace to cope with.

"Tottenham in this game started strongly, they just shot out of the blocks and showed their intentions right from the start," he said on Match of the day.

"They [Palace] give Alderweireld far too much space and he can pick out paces.

"The intensity they had today, Son was excellent and I think Winks was great. They caused them all sorts of problems, it was hurting Palace and they couldn’t get near them.”

After the game, Spurs forward Son insisted that that is the level of performance that he and his teammates hope to replicate every week.

"I think we should play like this always, and perform like this always, we have to try like this and we're really, really happy to get three points," he said.
