Ian Wright makes Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson Liverpool contract claim

Ian Wright has backed Liverpool to keep hold of both Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah until they retire.

The Reds have made signing their key senior players to long-term contracts a priority this summer, with Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Fabinho all committing their future to the club.

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show , the former Arsenal striker believes Liverpool will soon add two more names to that list and he can’t see them leaving Anfield any time soon.

“[Jordan Henderson] is somebody I can see staying there for the rest of his career. The same with Mo Salah now.”, Wright said.

“We know that Liverpool, normally, at some stage, they are going to sell one of the big guys. Of course, the pandemic has put pay to that. They couldn’t do that.

“Imagine trying to buy someone like Mohamed Salah. How much that is going to cost with his goal return? Same with Mane. Same with Firmino.

“If you can tie them guys up, if they are going to stay then you know what you are going to get from them. Rather than splash out a lot of money on a player that might not fit in or score the goals.”

Henderson has reportedly agreed a new three-year deal, with an option for an additional season, while Salah’s contract negotiations remain ongoing.

Ramy Abbas Issa, Salah’s agent, has sent two not-so-cryptic tweets alluding to his client’s contract in the last week.

However, if Liverpool can finally reach an agreement with the forward, it would ensure that the Egyptian would remain at Anfield during his supposedly peak years.

Both vital cogs in the Reds side that won the Premier League and Champions League, supporters will wish to keep Jurgen Klopp’s team together for as long as possible.
