Ian McCall hails 'incredible support' from Partick Thistle fans as season ticket sales hit 1000 mark

Partick Thistle hit a season ticket landmark earlier today as they confirmed 1000 sales to date ahead of another exciting season of Scottish Championship action.

Ian McCall's men are already back in pre-season ahead of the new campaign and they play their first friendly match later today against Scottish League One outfit Alloa. Thistle have squeezed a number of games into a short period ahead of the Premier Sports Cup campaign as they bid to hit the competition with a bang.

The Thistle boss spoke exclusively to Glasgow Live Sport earlier this week as he outlined his summer transfer plans, spoke about pre-season, focussed on some of his new Firhill recruits and outlined his aspirations for the season ahead as he targets a top three finish in Scotland's second tier - an improvement on the fourth place finish last term with McCall expressing that the club should be progressing year on year on the pitch.

Focussing on the fans and the incredible support shown by the Red and Yellow Army so far in the uptake of season passes for next term, he told Partick Thistle's official club website :“It’s great to be hitting these numbers of season tickets sold so early in the summer and it shows the incredible support of our fans and the excitement they have for the season ahead.

"I’ve been in the offices when supporters have popped in to renew their season ticket and it’s great to hear that they are looking forward to next season with excitement.

“We’re playing our first friendly tonight in Alloa and although we have a lot of hard preparatory work ahead, it will be the first chance for supporters to see the team I’m building in the flesh.

"Every season ticket sale goes into the budget and helps me to build a Thistle team that our fans can enjoy watching and be proud of supporting throughout next season.”

A short club statement added: "We’re delighted to confirm that we have this morning sold our 1000th season ticket for the exciting season ahead.

"Despite a challenging current economic environment, we have reached this landmark within three weeks of season tickets going on sale.

"A huge thank you from everyone within Firhill goes to all of the Red and Yellow Army who have renewed, or purchased for the first time, their season ticket for the season ahead.

"Purchasing a season ticket is the cheapest way to ensure you see every minute of action for the 2022/23 campaign.

"We know that times are tough for everyone right now with household bills rising by the month, that’s why we’ve kept our prices frozen to make football at Firhill as affordable for as many people as possible."
