Ian Evatt has say on Bolton Wanderers attacker's position change against Scunthorpe United

Ian Evatt has explained that Oladapo Afolayan started as a number 10 against Scunthorpe United for Bolton Wanderers to take advantage of their opponents formation.

The 23-year-old West Ham United loanee has played five times now for Wanderers since joining the League Two club on loan at the end of the most recent transfer window for the remainder of the season.

He has predominantly lined up in one of the wide attacking areas for the Trotters so far.

But in the 2-0 victory over the Iron, there was a position change for Afolayan, as he lined up in the number 10 role.

Eoin Doyle converted from the penalty spot after Nathan Delfouneso went down under Jacob Bedeau's first half challenge.

And skipper Antoni Sarcevic came off the bench to net Bolton's second to secure the three points.

The win has lifted Bolton up to ninth in League Two and just a point from the play-offs, while they have extended their unbeaten run to six matches.

And Ian Evatt explained the reasons for Afolayan's position change against the Iron, with exploiting the way Neil Cox's side lined up as part of the reason for this.

Evatt said: “I just thought that Dapo likes to go and hunt the ball and dribble and because Scunthorpe were 4-4-2 we thought that having Dapo as the extra player in midfield as the number 10 that he could really cause problems and create things from that position.

"He’s improving with every game, he’s getting fitter and stronger.

"He’s still a young player and people can’t forget that. We’ve got great options all over the pitch."
