Ian Evatt gives update on Bolton Wanderers summer transfer window state of play

Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt says matters are progressing in the transfer window with signings in the offing for both the first team and B team,

Wanderers have made one signing so far this summer in the form of Jack Iredale on a three-year deal from Cambridge United. He arrived on a free transfer not long after the season came to an end.

The Whites are seeking to bring back two of their loanees from last season after successful spells in the second half of the campaign. Marlon Fossey is sought from Fulham, as is James Trafford from Premier League champions Manchester City.

More business is planned in the coming weeks as Evatt adds reinforcements to his squad with the aim of making a push for promotion next season. The Wanderers boss has said in the past wants the bulk of his summer business done before the start of pre-season training on June 17, with the new season starting on July 31.

And the Whites boss has said matters are progressing 'nicely' on that front and that further incomings are 'on target'.

"Things are really progressing nicely. Things are very much on target and moving in the right direction, so we're really pleased," he told the club YouTube channel.

It is not just the first team that Wanderers are recruiting for this summer. A B team is being established at the club to bridge the gap between youth and senior football.

Trial games for players, including those released from top Premier League academies, have taken place before the season concluded and after. Some signings have already been made, but the League One side has not yet publicised this.

Of the B team reinforcements, Evatt said: "Recruitment happening all the time. We have already got some done but we’re not quite ready to announce them yet. Things are progressing really nicely.

“We have worked really, really hard. I haven’t had an hour off let alone a day yet, so we’re still going and we're still working but I am delighted with where we're at.”
