Iain Stirling left visibly flustered when asked 'awkward' Maya Jama question

Love Island narrator Iain Stirling was left visibly flustered after being quizzed about new host Maya Jama, in a chat which was branded 'awkward' by viewers.

Iain, 34, who has narrated the ITV2 dating show since 2015, was left flabbergasted when asked if he would pull Maya for a chat if the pair found themselves in the villa together.

The Scottish star, who is married to former host Laura Whitmore, appeared on Good Morning Britain alongside hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls to share his thoughts on the new winter series.

However, the conversation quickly turned to Maya, as Iain was quizzed on the new presenter.

Referencing some of the show's most famous catchphrases, Ed asked Iain on Wednesday: "Have you said to Maya, 'Can you come over for a chat?' or 'I'm sending you a text?"

In response, a flustered-looking Iain quipped: "To Maya Jama? I'm sure my wife would have something to say about that if that happened."

"Maya is absolutely fantastic and Laura was absolutely fantastic. Maya is doing such a good job - her slow-mo walks have been something else. Great looks," he added.

Elsewhere, Susanna said: "It must be weird for you. Laura hosted it for many years brilliantly. Maya is now the host of Love Island. She’s looking just as fabulous. Are you able to judge?"

Iain insisted he would never ‘judge’ the pair, adding: "I can’t say I'm going to judge anybody!"

Following the rather awkward moment, GMB fans flocked to Twitter to share their reactions.

"Not Iain Stirling reacting like any other man on the planet when Maya Jama's name is mentioned. She is beyond beautiful," one viewer shared.

"OMG! What an awkward question to ask a married man. What the heck," another complained.

While a third said: "He's very much in love with his wife. What a ridiculous question to ask someone on national TV. I'd be fuming if I were him."

Love Island returned to screens with a second series of the winter instalment of the reality dating show, as a new batch of singletons jetted to South Africa looking for love.
