Iain Stirling confirms he will return for winter Love Island as he teases start date

Love Island voiceover Iain Stirling has appeared to confirm he will return for the winter version of the show next year.

The popular comedian also teased when it will air, revealing it will be back "sooner than we think".

Speaking ahead of the Love Island 2019 final on Monday, he was grilled over the confirmed winter version of the ITV2 dating series.

His return had yet to be confirmed with host Caroline Flack also in line to be hosting the show as usual.

Now, Iain has confirmed he will be returning to the voiceover booth, promising it will be "enjoyable" for viewers.

He told Richard Arnold on Good Morning Britain: "Do you know what, it's gonna be an absolute blast.

"Winter Love Island is gonna come back sooner than you thought and it's gonna be enjoyable."

Caroline Flack is set to host two series next year (ITV)

It had been confirmed last week that the show would be airing twice a year from 2020.

Amid rumours of a winter version of the show, it has now been revealed this is the case, with a summer version to follow.

Currently the show's summer series is filmed in Majorca , but for the new winter show, the islanders will be heading to South Africa.

Iain teased when the series would be back on (ITV)

Paul Mortimer, Head of Digital Channels and Acquisitions at ITV, said: "Off the back of a record-breaking year, we're delighted to be bringing an extra series of our biggest and sunniest show to the 2020 schedule.

"Love Island has proven yet again to be the perfect format that engages younger audiences.

"In response to this viewer appetite, a new batch of young singletons will deliver some highly anticipated post-Christmas romance and drama from our new and luxurious location."

Love Island airs the live 2019 final tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
