I wore Amy Child’s pregnancy announcement dress on the red carpet and felt like one of the stars

Last night was the press night for The Lion King at the Palace Theatre in Manchester, which saw a star-studded audience in attendance, including Corrie stars and England footballers. Then there was me - reviewing for the Manchester Evening News.

I’m well-known among my friends for enjoying getting dolled up, whether it’s for a wedding or a date night, so of course, I had to hit the red carpet with an outfit that would be in-keeping with the other glammed-up guests.

Strictly Come Dancing’s Neil Jones was among the stars on the red carpet at the pre-show event, alongside lionesses Demi Stokes, Steph Houghton and Lucy Staniforth. Gogglebox’s Tom Malone also posed for a picture, alongside Corrie faves Faye Brookes, Brooke Vincent and Ellie Leach.

And to ensure it was totally celeb-worthy, I went for a velvet number that’s actually been spotted ON a star this week - none other than TV personality Amy Childs.

The TOWIE star announced her twin pregnancy earlier this week in an exclusive interview with OK, posing alongside partner Billy Delbosq in a lime green velvet dress I immediately recognised as Little Mistress.

They’re a brand I’ve worn countless times in the past, and I feel like they’re really distinctive and recognisable. It helped that I already had this high neck maxi dress in my wardrobe, so was quickly able to identify it as the dress Amy had chosen to reveal her big news with.

Little Mistress said: “Make everyone green with envy by slipping into our show-stopping velvet dress - it's the definition of jaw-dropping.”

The gown comes in at £78 , which is really quite affordable compared to some of the pieces celebrities are usually spotted in. It feels attainable and accessible, and the perfect splurge for a big event like a theatre premiere or even a winter wedding.

The show-stopping number has a high halter neck which fastens with three buttons at the neck, with a nipped-in waist and thigh split fishtail hem.

Though it has a zip at the back, the material is quite stretchy, which explains why Amy was able to get it to sit beautifully over her growing bump in her glamorous photo shoot.

As I stood on the red carpet where a number of celebs had stood before me, I felt like one of the stars thanks to this Little Mistress dress.

Available in sizes 8 to 18, you can shop the Little Mistress lime velvet dress for £78 here.
