'I wish Karoline Leavitt...': Florida nurse fired for pregnancy post on White House press secretary

A Florida nurse's video issuing serious injuries to pregnant White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has gone viral on the internet. The clip, shot by Lexie Lawler, a labour and delivery nurse at Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital has caused much backlash online, leading to her termination.

The viral clip

Lawler took to TikTok to share the clip online, wishing that Leavitt get severely injured during the birth of her upcoming child. “As a labour and delivery nurse, it gives me great joy to wish Karoline Leavitt a fourth-degree tear,” she said. “I hope you rip from bow to stern” she added, with other profanities for the youngest White House press secretary.

Netizens explode on Lexie Lawler

While Leavitt's role as a press secretary has Americans divided, the injuries inflicted on the expecting mother by the nurse were not appreciated by anyone. Many took to the comments to condemn the threats made by Lawler, calling for the revocation of her medical license.

"She not only needs to be fired. Her medical license should also be revoked" said a comment on X.

“This woman DELIVERS BABIES. Terrifying.” added Libs of TikTok, a conservative commentary account on X.

Others, tagged the hospital reprimanding them for hiring Lawler, writing, "Lexie Lawler, one of your nurses, is a danger to society. I wonder if she would purposely allow a baby or mom to die because they don't share her political agenda."

Swift termination

Patty Abril, director of media relations and strategic communications at Baptist Health, shared with Fox News that Lawler is no longer employed at the hospital. “The comments made in a social media video by a nurse at one of our facilities do not reflect our values or the standards we expect of healthcare professionals,” said Abril. “Following a prompt review, the individual is no longer employed by our health system.”

In December, Leavitt announced that she and her husband Nick are expecting their second child, a baby girl in May 2026. The couple already share a son, Niko, born in July 2024. “My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother,” she wrote in an Instagram post on December 26th, 2025. “My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.”
