I visited friendly Bulwell cafe and couldn't believe how big it is inside

It’s getting colder! This means if you have a spare few coins in your pocket and you’re out and about, you may want a coffee, tea or hot chocolate. So Community Reporter Keimae Blake visited a friendly cafe in Bulwell and couldn’t believe how big it was inside…

Jeromes Cafe in Main Street has seats and tables outside for people to dine but there were more people inside than out when I visited which was no surprise given the weather.

Jerome Gardener transformed a former frozen food shop into a cafe. Inside you wouldn’t think it’s the size it is - and with couples sitting down having a hot drink, cake or a spot of lunch, Jeromes seems to be very popular. It has warm lighting and plants pots decorating the inside of the building with a calm atmosphere. I was very impressed with the interior design and customer service of this local business.

On arrival, I was greeted by a friendly barista who, with a menu, directed me to a quiet corner of the cafe. I was recommended to try the Biscoff cake for £3.50 and I had a hot chocolate priced at £3.50 with cream and marshmallows which both cost an extra 50p.

As people laughed, ate and drank I couldn’t help but admire the artwork on the walls. Some of the paintings were of forests, fields or atmospheric artwork of lakes.

All the little accessories this cafe has makes it feel homely and warm - even the cushions have autumnal patterns on them. My hot chocolate and cake were in front of me in no time and I loved the Biscoff cake.

It looked incredible and it tasted even better. With moist, spongy cake and thick Biscoff buttercream in the middle drizzled, and with more Biscoff on the top, this delicious slab of cake and a hot drink would be perfect for an afternoon treat after browsing the shops in Bulwell.

My hot chocolate was just the right temperature - there’s nothing worse than a lukewarm hot chocolate that’s cold within seconds - and the cream and marshmallows were the perfect topping.

On my way out, I was asked how my food was followed by a ‘we hope to see you again’. The next time I go to Jeromes Cafe I’ll have to have a barbecue chicken melt for £6.50 or a cheese and chutney sandwich for £4.00.

Jeromes Cafe is definitely a treasure to Bulwell. I have no complaints. My overall experience here was 10/10 and the food was even better!
