A woman from Miami found herself in a disturbing situation after a night out. She discovered that men were secretly recording her drunk conversations and posting them on TikTok as “pickup artist” training videos. The woman, known as Gabs on TikTok, saw herself appear in these videos three separate times.
According to Bro Bible, Gabs posted a video on TikTok warning other women about this problem. Her clip has been viewed over 316,100 times. She told women to be careful when talking to men who wear glasses during nights out. The reason is that some men are using Meta Smart Glasses to secretly film women without their knowledge.
These men then post the videos online with captions like “how to confidently approach women on a night out.” Gabs made it clear that she only talked to these men because she was drunk, not because they had any special skills. She said she was so drunk that she “would have spoken to a wall.”
These hidden camera videos are ruining nights out for everyone
Gabs said she felt sick after seeing herself in these videos repeatedly. She called herself “the poster child for how to approach a woman on a night out” and begged the men to delete the videos. She even joked that she would never talk to a man wearing glasses again.
The woman explained that while Meta Smart Glasses have a blinking light to show when they’re recording, she didn’t notice it because she had consumed “four tequila Red Bulls” that night. Miami nightlife workers have seen wild situations at bars and clubs, but this hidden camera trend adds a new layer of concern. She ended her message by saying she’ll talk to anyone who approaches her normally, but asked them to stop secretly filming her.
This problem isn’t just happening to Gabs. Since Meta Smart Glasses became available, many people have raised concerns about secret recording. A Reddit user from the U.K. said they’ve seen many similar posts online. Some videos are filmed on public streets, but others are recorded in private places like cafes and stores.
People commenting on Gabs’ video were disgusted by this behavior. “Meta glasses are going to be the start of discrimination against glasses wearers in general. Time to invest in contacts,” one person commented.
“This should be against the law. At minimum, it should be against the law to profit off of any video where the main parties involved in the video have not agreed to be filmed,” another comment read. While some celebrations turn into unexpected survival situations, venues should protect customers from privacy violations.
