I Used To Think All Halloween Decor Was Too Kitschy for My Taste Until This Unexpectedly Chic Decoration Changed My Mind

A fireplace that's been elaborately decorated for halloween with garland, potted plants, wall-mounted moths, and decor in dark colors.

Despite my fondness for spooky season, I've always had a hard time decorating my home for Halloween. In my opinion, most Halloween decor is either too childish for my taste, overly kitschy, or simply unattractive. I've never been able to find decor that's seasonally appropriate, looks good, and won't detract from the aesthetic I've created within my home.

However, on a recent scroll of Terrain's Halloween collection, I spotted something that I actually liked – a Halloween decorating idea that's chic, a little bit spooky, and definitely unique. What was it, you ask? While not a traditional Halloween motif, it's in fact a collection of wall-mounted iron moths.

These moths are such a simple Halloween decoration. That's likely why I’m drawn to them – and why they’re so highly rated on Terrain’s website. They don't look over-the-top, tacky, or silly. Instead, they are a tastefully elegant and slightly playful wall decor idea that can subtly enhance any room with some spooky season charm.

There are so many ways in which you can style these moths around the home. For instance, as an entryway idea – cluster them on the wall next to your front door to make guests feel like they're entering a spooky cave as they walk inside.

Since they're sold in a set of 18, you can split them up and place them all around your home to create cohesion from room to room as well. Perhaps you put three next to the mirror in your bathroom, six in the corner of your reading nook, and nine above the fireplace in your living room. Regardless of how or where they're styled, their dark iron wings carry a sense of rustic elegance and the slightest playful charm. These moths can subtly make any room feel more on-theme for Halloween.

So, if you're hesitant to decorate for Halloween because you don't want your home to look silly or overly thematic – I get it. I've always felt the same way. But these iron moths capture the spookiness of the season without overdoing it. Consider them your ticket to chic and elevated Halloween decorating.
