As a regular tea and coffee drinker, it's safe to say my teeth were subject to a fair bit of discoloration - and don't even get me started on the red wine!
I was always under the impression that I had reasonably white teeth, not perfect but average, until I'd step out the house in either red or white lipstick and be taken aback when catching my reflection in the mirror. I'd like to think I take reasonably good care of my teeth, but had never really invested in any teeth whitener, until now.
As a bit of a teeth whitening novice, I was always under the impression that it would cost a lot of money to get a good set of pearly whites. I stumbled across a Glo32 sale on the Boots website and took the plunge for a pack of 28 because I had a friend's wedding coming up and wanted my teeth to look whiter.

Once I'd gotten over the initial weirdness of putting something on my teeth, I got into a bit of a routine with the £20 product. The 'Glo 32 teeth whitening strips' are said to be formulated with Coconut Oil for a 'healthy way' to achieve a whiter, brighter smile.
This particular pack includes 28 strips for a 14 day treatment. I wasn't particularly strict or stringent with times and days of using the strips, and just popped them on for 20 minutes when I was watching telly for a period of two weeks.
The coconut oil taste wasn't at all unbearable like I expected, but my teeth did tingle a little bit for the first time - but they got used to it eventually. After using just one strip for 20 minutes, I could already see that my teeth appeared brighter and whiter, so you can imagine the results after two weeks.
My experience wasn't all entirely pleasant though, I have just one word of warning - when you remove the strips there can be a lot of gunk in the form of coconut oil. You just need to get over the initial weird texture in your mouth and rinse it all out and the jobs a good'un.
Users of the strips can choose whether to keep them on for 20 or 30 minutes, I decided to go for 20 minutes considering I'd never never used any form of teeth whitener before, and I think that was just enough time. There are a few hazards and cautions to make note of before use though, which I've listed below:
- Do not use whitening strips if suffering from dental ulcers, broken gums or after oral surgery.
- People with sensitive teeth should reduce the dosage or use under the guidance of dentist.
- In the event of eye contact flush with plenty of water.
- Not recommended for persons under the age of 16 and pregnant or breastfeeding woman.
- Side effects from this product are rare but please discontinue use and contact your GP immediately in the event of an adverse reaction, taking this packaging with you.
Luckily, I didn't have any trouble with the strips, and noticed some unreal results after two weeks of use. Not only did my teeth look a completely different colour, they looked generally vibrant and brighter.
The teeth whitening strips combined with some fresh fake tan made me feel like a million dollars. I'll probably try not to use packs like this too regularly to give my teeth a bit of a break, but I'd highly recommend using them on the run up to a special occasion like I did.
