I tried the £55 Boots x Elemis beauty box and have never felt so relaxed

Now that I’m in my mid-twenties, I’ve started to take my skincare somewhat seriously, which includes no longer sleeping in my mascara, and ceasing use of face wipes - with the exception of makeup removal post-night-out.

One thing that makes this a lot easier is a streamlined routine using minimal products from the same brand, so that I know the products complement one another and work together to give my skin that glow I so desperately crave.

I’ve been a big fan of Elemis products for a while now, but their products are undeniably a luxury, so I often wait until Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday or my birthday to stock up on my Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm or Frangipani Monoi shower gel.

But Boots currently has a money-saving beauty box that gets you five premium Elemis skincare products for £55, which works out at £11 per product. Considering one of them is worth £35 alone, it’s a massive saving for shoppers.

In fact, the Boots x Elemis premium skincare box features a mixture of full size and travel size products with a combined value of £119 when you add up each individual item - saving customers a whopping £64 on the RRP.

Shoppers have already been raving about the ‘price and quality’ of the box, with one five star review commenting: “Fab collection, so pleased Elemis is now in Boots. The Lavender toner has been my fave toner for many many years now and great to see it in this collection with some travel sized items to try / take away with me.”

Another added: “Excellent product with great value for the price and quality.”

The Elemis beauty box couldn’t have come at a better time, since I was running low on my Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, and the thought of forking out £46 on 100g of the award-winning product was a painful one.

For an extra £9, I could get the rose version of the cleanser in a smaller size, as well as four other products to try - it was a no brainer.

This premium beauty box offers a start-to-finish skin wellness regime, starting with the Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm 20g, which is usually £12 on its own. Getting the smaller size is a great opportunity to see if you like the fragrance of the rose version, in comparison to the original, and I have to say it was really lush. I didn’t prefer it to the original spa-like scent of the normal version, but it was a nice change having used the Pro Collagen balm for such a long time.

The Elemis balm is thick in consistency, and breaks down into three unique textures as you cleanse. Working it into dry skin, it melts away makeup as a nourishing balm, before removing as a cleansing oil and hydrating as a cleansing milk.

I went on to use the Pro-Collagen Marine Moisture Essence 28ml, which is usually £23. The travel-sized product doesn’t look like much, but you only need two to three drops patted into the skin, so it will last longer than you’d first think.

The hydrating essence is said to double skin’s moisture content while smoothing the look of fine lines for a youthful glow, and while I’m fortunate enough to not have wrinkles just yet, prevention is supposed to be better than cure, right?

For the first time I tried the Balancing Lavender Toner 200ml, worth £28, and I have never felt so relaxed. The purifying facial toner balances and softens the skin without the use of alcohol, so my skin wasn’t left feeling dry or stripped.

I have combination skin, so finding products that cater to both my oily and dry areas can be a challenge, but this toner is specifically formulated for just that. It helps maintain the natural pH level of the skin without the use of alcohol or other harsh detergents.

Infused with extracts of Lavender, Quillja Wood and Sweet Betty Flower, it smells stunning and has that spa-like feel that will put you right to sleep with the calming lavender. It’s quickly become a nightly ritual and it’s definitely a product I’d repurchase in the future.

Next up was the 15ml tube of Pro Collagen Marine Cream which is a whopping £35, so although it’s a small bottle, it’s worth a lot of money and is the most valuable product of the whole box.

You only need the tiniest amount of cream - less than pea sized - to help reduce the appearance of ageing in as little as two weeks, apparently. The moisturiser feels extremely premium and absorbs quickly into the skin, injecting a boost of hydration and a sense of smugness knowing that with this, and one of the other products, the rest of the box is basically free.

Then there’s the Superfood Glow Priming Moisturiser 20ml, which is a game-changer for summer. The perfect recipe for a dewy glow, this silicone-free moisturiser primes and hydrates while leaving a subtle shimmer on the skin. Usually £19 for the travel sized sample, the multitasking formula can be used as a daily moisturiser, a hydrating makeup primer or to enhance skin’s natural luminosity.

For me, I love using it under foundation for that radiant look, and it helps keep your skin hydrated beneath your makeup.

The Boots x Elemis box is a premium beauty box that offers an opportunity to discover luxury skincare products at a more affordable price. It also provides a no fuss, no faff approach to skincare, perfect for people wanting to overhaul their routine, or simply don’t know where to start.

It was great to try out the Rose Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm, although I do still prefer the original.

The Essence and Marine Cream are a serious anti-ageing power duo, while the glow-giving, multi-tasking moisturiser is going to get a lot of use throughout the summer months. My favourite product had to be the refreshing lavender toner, though, offering aromatherapy with skincare for less than the price of a spa treatment.

However, if £55 seems a little steep, then Debenhams are stocking a £30 skincare box worth £184 featuring brands like Elizabeth Arden and Dr PawPaw, while LookFantastic’s £40 summer skin edit is worth £130.
