"I tried Aldi’s make-up that shoppers say is extremely similar to Charlotte Tilbury's items"

Aldi’s special buys have always been popular among shoppers and as a beauty fan I was keen to put their offerings to the test. The supermarket chain relaunched its trending beauty buys earlier this month after a ‘sell-out success’ of its previous range

Prices start at just £2.99 so are very affordable for all budgets, and they have been rumoured to be dupes for popular brands. The first product, which also cost the least, is the famous lip trio TikTokers are calling a dupe of fan favourite brand Charlotte Tilbury.

I decided to try the Lacura lip trio to see exactly what all the fuss was about. It has a striking pink-coloured packaging, and while it’s a basic and simplistic design, the colour stands out.

To start the look, I first used the Lacura Perfect Nude Lip Liner (£2.99) which is made up with a blend of Coconut and Soya Bean oil to create the desired ‘seamless and moisturising finish’. Aldi says: “This long-lasting and non-transferring must-have will help lock lipsticks into place with its smooth and velvety texture.”

I found the product was actually really easy to use, and perfectly lined my lips the way any other lip liner would. The one thing I would say is, if you tend to have drier lips make sure to put some Vaseline or something underneath so the pen glides across the lips nice and smoothly.

Next was the Lacura Perfect Nude Lipstick (£2.99) which is enriched with Moon Orchard Plant and waxes to help it smoothly move over the lips. Aldi calls the product an “everyday essential” which features ‘buildable and high colour payoff for a velvety soft matte look with a hint of highlight’.

I don’t tend to use lipstick as I much prefer the lip gloss look but I actually really loved the finish this lipstick provided. The worse thing about this product was its smell, which was almost too sweet. But the matte effect works really well and it glides onto the lips easily. I really liked how the lipstick and lip liner worked well together, there wasn’t any difference in shade and all of my lips had some form of coverage, which lasted for a long time.

Finally, I added the Lacura Perfect Nude Lip Gloss (£2.99) on top. Now, this step isn’t a necessity, if you prefer the lipstick look you don’t need to add the lip gloss on top, but you can if you want. The product is ‘enriched with Collagen, Coconut Oil, vitamin A and Mint Oil’ to provide a smooth, soft and moisturised feeling.

I really liked the way the gloss felt on my lips, sometimes lip glosses can be kind of sticky and this wasn’t at all so is the ideal gloss for a windy day.

Overall, I would say that the lip trio is as the store describes it ‘a must-have’. The items are the perfect mix of budget-friendly and good quality make-up, which could rival some of the more pricey brands. If you’re wanting to try these products, head to Aldi while stock lasts.

Lacura lipstick is also sold on Amazon, but buying off this platform would cost you around £13.99.
