I tried a £17 pack of 'cooling' pillowcases from Amazon and it worked a treat in the heatwave

You know the feeling - it's hot, you're sweating, you're tossing and turning and you can't get comfortable in bed at all.

There's nothing worse than trying to sleep in the hot, sticky muggy weather, and it's even worse when you end up sleeping terribly and feeling extra grouchy. I personally haven't purchased a bedroom fan yet because I'm worried about the costs of electric, which is why I thought I'd try a very different alternative.

The CHOSHOME 'cool pillowcases' from Amazon are said to be made of a cooling fibre that has a silk like texture. Cooling pillowcases are described as a pillowcase that 'doesn't absorb facial moisture' like the cotton pillowcase.

Apparently, dermatologists recommend cooler pillowcases to maintain soft skin, so this magical pillowcase could kill two birds with one stone if it works correctly. So, how on earth does a cooling pillowcase work?

Well, one side is 100% PE 'cool fabric' and the other is 100% nylon, so the pillow cover is designed to be double sided for extra coolness. Let's be honest, there's nothing better than the cold side of the pillow, so I was really excited to give this one a go.

The pillowcase itself was a little big for my standard sized pillow, so anyone wanting a standard size should opt for the 40x80cm which I didn't do, but that isn't the end of the world. In terms of touch, the pillowcase was incredibly soft and sleek, it had an 'airy' design, and wasn't too heavy like a bog standard pillow case.

I wouldn't say that the pillowcase was uncomfortable in the slightest, quite the opposite, but it did take some getting used to. I think because the material felt different to my normal pillowcase, it felt a little weird at first.

The great news is, I had absolutely no issues in falling asleep. As soon as my head hit the pillow I felt relaxed and comfortable - a rarity when the weather is so hot.

The softness of the pillowcase was a real treat against my hair and skin, and to touch, it actually did feel cold, which was mind-boggling to me. One thing I will say, is that the pillowcase felt a lot cooler in the morning as opposed to the evening.

Although in the evening it was still refreshing, because the cool air from the window filled my room in the early hours, it almost caught onto the pillow and made it feel even cooler.

For £17, the pillowcases may seem a little steep in price, but I'm really glad that I decided to purchase these instead of a fan. Although it took a while to get used to them, I slept like a baby and definitely felt cooler.

If anyone wants to catch up on some zzzs and sleep a little more comfortably, I'd highly recommend these pillowcases. They're soft, cool to touch and offer the perfect base for some beauty sleep!
