An Uber rider emotionally recounts the terrifying moment her driver began listing reasons she would be an easy target.
In a video with over 34,000 views, TikToker and DJ Mars (@marss.satx) says she’s “never getting into an Uber by [herself] again” after her most recent ride.
She says she ordered an Uber to take her home from a friend’s house. Shortly after getting in the car, her male Uber driver comments, “It must be so scary to be a pretty young girl living in San Antonio.”
Mars says she politely nodded and said, “OK.” However, the conversation takes another creepy turn when the driver insists that she should carry a gun.
What did her Uber driver say about firearms?
“He was like, ‘I could tell from the second you got in my car. First of all, when you walked up, I noticed by what you’re wearing that there’s no way you had a gun on you,’” she recounts, pausing to cry. “He’s like, ‘Second of all, you have a limp.’ I got into a car accident three weeks ago.”
She says the Uber driver also said, “There’s no feeling like knowing you can go into a room and kill everybody in there.”
The driver circles back to his point about why Mars would be a “weak target.”
“He’s like, ‘You know that feeling of dread you have when I was listing all the things about you that make you a weak target? Hold onto that feeling of dread because it will sit with you,’” she says.
Then, she says he pulls out a gun, shining the firearm’s light on the ceiling of the cabin.
“He says, ‘I didn’t even point it at you, but I could feel that you were uncomfortable and that you were surprised by it,’” she says.
According to Uber’s website, the platform bans riders and drivers from carrying guns while completing a ride.
Mars notes that she thinks he was trying to “scare [her] into being safe,” but that she is traumatized from the situation.

In the comments, others say they’ve had a similar encounter with an Uber driver in San Antonio.
“I THINK I HAD HIM TOO AND HAD THIS EXACT CONVERSATION ts so sad. i’m so sorry baby report it and everything,” one shares.
“What was the guys name? I’m in San Antonio this happened to me too,” another says.
“I’m so sorry!! An Uber driver was also talking to me like this and asked if I lived alone when he dropped me off,” a third adds.
Others agree that he was likely trying to teach her about safety, but did so in an inappropriate way.
“Report immediately, he was intentionally trying to scare you in the worst way possible- even if it was advice in his eyes he was having a weird power trip. I’m so so sorry this happened,” a commenter suggests.
“Here’s kind of a logical reasoning behind it. He’s trying to give you advice but in the worst way possible for you. he obviously doesn’t know how to talk to someone sensitive and overall, women need to be talked to gently in general,” another says.
“I feel he was just trying to have a normal conversation about guns and safety bc unfortunately a lot of people from SA are just straight to the point like this, but that doesn’t make it OKAY OR NORMAL! Bc it shouldn’t be the drivers here are wayyy too confident and weird,” a third writes.
