I tested Ninja’s premium cooler last year — here’s why it’s still my top summer must-have

A year after I first tested the Ninja FrostVault, I'm still sure it's the best cooler you can get your hands on. It keeps the ice frozen for five whole days at the height of summer, so it's safe to say I can rely on it.

This summer is expected to be one of the hottest on record for parts of the U.S. and the rest of the world. Whether it's for garden parties or to take with you on the road, the NinjaFrostVault is the only cooler I trust with my fresh food and beverages on some of the hottest days. Let's recap the reasons why you shouldn't give this box the cold shoulder this summer.

Keeping ice cool

The most impressive thing about the Ninja FrostVault is how long it can keep ice frozen. After five days, there was still solid ice in the cooler, and all of the cans I'd put in there were super cold.

Having a cooler with such incredible insulation is essential, especially during the crazy heatwaves we're seeing worldwide right now. Having cool beverages to drink on hot days makes all the difference.

I would be very comfortable relying on this cooler for a short camping trip, but I would advise adding in a digital thermometer to ensure food-safe temperatures.

Tough build

If, like me, you find yourself on campsites with uneven ground or heading down to the beach, you're going to need something easier to maneuver. And since this cooler comes in 45QT or 65QT, you're not going to be carrying it.

Luckily, the Ninja FrostVault has some heavy-duty wheels and a tow arm to get you where you need to go. I tried this out on a bunch of different terrain, and I could pull it around with ease. And trust me, if I can move it, anyone can.

Convenient compartments

You load the main compartment with ice to ensure everything stays cool, but there's also a sneaky drawer at the bottom. This uses the cooling effect of the top compartment but eliminates the moisture created when the ice melts.

Anything kept in this drawer won't get soggy but will stay ice cold. This makes it perfect for things like meat, fruit or cheese.

Do yourself a favor this summer and forget about refilling the ice bucket. Check out the Ninja FrostVault.
