'I spent £4k turning home into pink Winter Wonderland with life-sized Nutcrackers and FIVE trees'

A woman has forked out £4,00 this year to transform her house into a pink Winter Wonderland, complete with life-sized Nutcracker statues and FIVE Christmas trees.

Gemma Markland, 31, who lives with her partner, Kyle, 29, in Wigan, Greater Manchester, spent a week decorating her four-bedroom detached property with rose-gold ornaments including baubles, reindeers, and snowmen.

To celebrate Christmas, she purchased a stunning £1,000 bauble arch and kitted out each room in the house with a rose-gold themed Christmas tree.

The couple, who live at home with Gemma’s daughter Grace, 12, from a previous relationship, set up an Instagram to document their progress and it has gathered a whopping 350k followers.

Business owner Gemma said: "I love the way it’s all turned out.

"We decorated a little last year, but nothing on this scale. The bauble floral arch outside the house cost around £1,000 but it was so worth it.

"We often get people stopping to take photos in front of it - it’s really eye-catching. I love this time of year and I wanted to go all out because we couldn't really celebrate last year."

Gemma and Kyle bought their beautiful home in September 2019.

It is the first property Gemma has ever owned, and she began collecting rose-gold items before moving in.

She's spent years carefully crafting every room to follow a blush pink theme.

To date, Gemma has splashed out £50,000 on pink items including rugs, curtains, tables, sofas, chairs, and lamps and photo frames.

"Kyle wasn’t keen at first, but he’s used to all the pink now," she admitted.

"I do a lot of decorating and DIY myself to save money where I can. It’s a lot of money but it’s been worth it for the overall look of the house."

Gemma was determined to carry on the pink theme with her Christmas decorations.

She gathered items throughout the year and started decorating the house in November.

Throughout the house she has five Christmas trees and two life-sized pink Nutcracker statues and four smaller ones.

Gemma added: "I found a lot of stuff online but also places like B&M for the baubles.

"My favourite piece has to be the candy cane themed tree in the kitchen. The tree is full-on pink which is hard to find."

The floral Christmas arch at the front of the house was designed by a local florist called Kelly Louise Floral Artistry, and Gemma is over the moon with the result.

She said: "The archway is stunning - I love how it turned out. My daughter loves the decorations.

"She’s often inviting her friends around to come and see our pink house."

Gemma has documented the house's transformation on her Instagram page and attracted 350k followers who love her unique décor.

She’s even amassed a further 20,000 followers since uploading her Christmas decoration photos.

The mum-of-one is looking forward to Christmas as she is hosting it this year.

She said: "I can’t wait to have everyone over to see the place.

"After missing last year, it’s the first Christmas we’re able to spend with the extended family again.

"We’ve had such a tough year, I wanted to make this one extra special.

"It's all a bit of fun and I hope it can make people smile."
