JAIPUR: Yashasvi Jaiswal is the cynosure of all eyes these days following the superlative performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
The blistering century against the Mumbai Indians in the last match at the Wankhede Stadium was the icing on the cake and made headlines all over the cricketing world.
"I have worked hard on my game in the last few months. I play according to the team's demands as our team needs a flying start in the first few overs. Playing the ball on merit and being in the right frame of mind are the secrets of my success this season. A couple of early matches where I scored fifties boosted my confidence a great deal," said Yashasvi while talking to the media after visiting the SG sports equipment showroom here on Wednesday.
The Rajasthan Royals will take on Gujarat Titans in the next match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Friday. Yashasvi is expected to continue his dream form in the season.
"Whenever I go to bat, I try to be in the best zone. Barring a few matches, I did not take unnecessary risks in the first few overs. Powerplay is the key and I take calculated risks to help my team get a positive start. Captain Sanju Samson and other senior members of the side always back me whether I score runs or not. I like the team atmosphere and positive energy on and off the field," said Yashasvi, who has amassed 428 runs at an impressive strike rate in the sixteenth edition of the IPL so far. The Mumbai-based cricketer is a Orange Cap holder right now in the IPL.
There is a speculation that MS Dhoni might retire after the current IPL. Yashasvi said he learnt a lot while playing with and against him.
"I don't know whether this is his last IPL or not. You always learn when MS Sir is around. I am fortunate to play with him. I always try to learn from my seniors. I learn and follow the good advice given by Gavaskar Sir, MSD and Virat Bhaiya. I follow their advice and try to improve my game all the time," said Yashasvi.
