A fake tan disaster is something anyone who bronzes themself will have experienced at some point.
The beauty mishap is a rite of passage - and is one you have to make if you're ever going to become a tanning pro.
One influencer shared how their attempt to brighten up went very badly - and left people in hysterics.
TikTok user Lily - who has 470k followers - shared a video of the moment she realised it had all gone wrong.
The influencer told how she had forgotten to do her beauty routine before an event, so settled for using an instant fake tan, which her mum applied.

But it didn't quite work out - leaving her followers in hysterics.
In a hilarious video, she explained: "I've got an event tonight and I forgot to tan so I panicked.
"So I thought I'd use some of that instant tanner that develops over six hours, so I whacked some of that on, my mum did it for me.
"And she's going 'okay it looks a bit dark, but trust the process."
In hysterics, Lily added: "It's even worse on camera."
She then revealed that the instructions said that she didn't need to wash it off and could have simply stayed that shade if she'd chosen.
She joked: "[The bottle] says you don't have to wash off for a darker than dark tan [...]
"So you can leave it on and go out like this. Like, 'hello girls!' Oh I love your tan - what colour is it? Rolled in s***?'"
She captioned the jokey clip: "I can't believe I'm on the internet like this...", leaving her followers in hysterics.
"I was not expecting this," one admitted.
Another asked: "Please update on us on what end up doing."
"Sorry but it's so funny. Do you have a big hoodie?," a third asked.
