I might be spending the summer in the city, but this Serena & Lily outdoor rattan chair is perfect for giving my tiny balcony a touch of the Hamptons – and it's under $200

Rattan chairs on a pebble patio.

I live in New York City, which in July might as well be a ghost town. Everyone’s abroad in some far-flung locale or has retreated ‘out East,’ where they’ll remain until Labor Day. I may not be getting to the Hamptons anytime soon, but I did spot an outdoor rattan chair in Serena & Lily’s sale section that looks like it belongs there – 53% off, no less.

The chair in question? A woven outdoor furniture gem that would look right at home in the garden of a hydrangea-lined home with its own beach access – or perched at one of those day clubs charging $150 for chicken tenders and fries (which is actually only a fraction less than this chair costs).

Made of breezy woven rattan over a bent rattan frame, it’s got a low-slung, lounge-y shape that gives good cause to cancel your entire afternoon. It’s also versatile enough to bring inside when summer ends. A tropical, vintage, Miami-circa-1960 touch in your living room. Look at the pictures in the Styled By You section too, many people have used it as a beach chair as it does fold and have handles to carry it by.

Originally $428, now just $199.99, this Serena & Lily outdoor sale find costs just a hair more than a day at a Hampton's beach club. Plus, it works on my small city balcony too, bringing a laid-back coastal feel to even the smallest of spaces.

If you can, get a pair. Flank an outdoor side table, and suddenly you’ve got yourself a conversation corner worthy of a Nancy Meyers movie. (Image credit: Serena & Lily)

The Serena & Lily Summer Tent Sale runs through July 23, but my sixth sense tells me this one’s going to disappear fast. With up to 70% off clearance and free shipping on hundreds of items (yes, including the Palisades Chair), you best believe I didn’t stop at just one woven accent. Still cheaper than actually heading up to the Hamptons, I'm telling myself…

I was drawn to all the rattan pieces in the Serena & Lily sale because I love this summer decorating trend for both my outdoor spaces and indoor rooms, but there are hundreds of items on sale to suit any space and style, so be sure to see if there's anything that's been on your wish list before the sale ends. Serena & Lily pieces are often an investment but with discounts like this it makes them closer to the prices you might find at more affordable homeware stores.
