'I'm not to be treated like an ant': Chinese boy's monologue complaining about his mom's strict parenting goes viral

A video of a first-grade student from southeastern China has gone viral on Chinese social media for criticizing his mother’s temper and strict parenting style.

Netizens have found the boy’s monologue to be quite rational and logical.

Here are some key excerpts from the boy’s monologue shared by Today, "Listening to you getting angry over the most trivial things, I don't even know what you're trying to do. Back then, the reason why I didn't say anything, it's because I was trying to endure and tolerate until when I was older, I want to make you feel how I'm feeling right now."

Saying his mother is acting as if she is a tiger, he added, "You're acting like a fierce tiger towards me, everyday, over the smallest things and when I provoked you, you treat me like that."

The boy argued whether his mom acts towards her colleagues and bosses in a similar manner.

He said, "When you are at work, you're with your female colleagues, they come and talk to you, would you be fierce towards them? Would you be fierce towards your boss? Would you be fierce towards the highest-ranking person in your company? Would you argue with them?"

Towards the end of the clip, which is seemingly recorded by the mom herself, the child said, "My heart is broken. I don't want to feel wronged, I don't want to be a target for your anger. You sounded like a wild beast. I'm not a trash person. I'm not to be treated like an ant. So insignificant. I have a brain. I have emotions."

Netizens appreciated the boy’s composed speech and reflected on how parents should keep their temper under control.

One person said, “The boy is right. Do avoid losing our tempers if at all possible.”

Another commented, “The boy teaches me a lesson too. I will reflect on my own parenting.”
