One woman found that her Rice Krispies Treat had a little extra protein from an unexpected source, and she was unhappy with the company, telling it to count its days.
In a viral five-second TikTok, Estrella (@tyeese._) writes, “Rice Krispies count your days. I’ve been eating ants without realizing it. noticed it on my last bite.” In the caption, she adds, “This is nasty AND I’m allergic to ants.”

In the comments section, some viewers joked about the situation. One said she might as well finish, while another said she may become Ant-Woman. Others were scared they may have accidentally ingested ants while eating the marshmallow cereal treat.
One said, “I always thought it was just burnt.”
A second said, “Oh dang. I didn’t know that was ants … I been eating ants then.”
However, one noted, “GUYS DW MOST OF THE BROWN STUFF ON YOURS WAS PROBABLY BURNT MARSHMALLOW, IVE LOOKED CLOSE AT MINE BEFORE EATING BC I WAS A PICKY KID!!”

The TikToker is not the only Rice Krispies fan to find ants in her treat. In a Reddit post from 14 years ago, a user shared a photo of an open Rice Krispies treat that had at least seven dead ants on it.
Most respondents either said the customer could likely get money for their troubles or should just buck up and eat the bugs. One even said they heard ants in Rice Krispies Treats were a delicacy, like maggot cheese.

In an Avvo thread where a customer questioned if they could sue Kellogg’s after finding a beetle in their Rice Krispie Treat, an attorney responded, “You could but your damages would be outweighed by the cost of litigation. Better off writing to Kellogg’s about your finding and see if they’re willing to offer you a refund or a coupon towards a new purchase.”
