I'm a Celebrity viewers are 'warming' to a 'surprisingly likeable' Matt Hancock

I’m A Celebrity viewers seem to be having a change of heart on Matt Hancock, admitting he’s 'surprisingly likeable.’

However, while some are warming to him, others have branded the former health secretary as "a creep" and say his "chummy normalisation" is "repulsive.”

Mr. Hancock has been receiving a mixed bag of responses from his campmates in the jungle.

Boy George said he would have left the show after his arrival if his mother had died in hospital during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, other celebrities responded to his arrival with a mixture of shock, incredulity and uncontrollable laughter from other campmates.

And the response among viewers was similarly mixed on Twitter. @Samishlol said it "seems Matt Hancock is changing peoples minds" - and shared a screengrab of tweets from people, describing him as 'surprisingly likeable' and saying the episode was hilarious.

Responding to a tweet that suggested Matt Hancock "sitting in luxury whilst others are suffering" was something that "sounded familiar", @psycholady666 said: "Let’s remember much as we hate some decisions made he didn't cause covid or lockdowns."

And Timothy Saxby tweeted: "I have this horrible feeling that I might start to like / feel sorry for Matt Hancock….. this year isn’t turning out how I thought."

And, in what must be a sure fire sign of burgeoning popularity, James Powell said the MP "is actually Alan Partridge".

Meanwhile, @deanplayford suggested Mr Hancock "will get more votes than the Tories in the next general election" and predicted that "we will see Boris skydiving as he will believe the votes are based on popularity".

However, not everyone was wishing Mr Hancock well. Nathan Kennedy tweeted: "Fully rooting for the eels and crocodiles in tomorrows trial, eat Matt Hancock."

Alison Citrine isn't a Matt Fan either. She tweeted: "I hope Boy George doesn't leave because of Matt Hancock I will understand though, I couldn't share my space with him for 3 minutes never mind 3 weeks."

DJ and comedian Danny Baker told his 500,000 followers: "Anyone else finding this chummy normalisation of Matt Hancock repulsive? He tried to close down my local Lewisham Hospital.

"He's one of the disgusting crew who has led us as a country where we are now. Ignore this creep. This chancer. No trials. Nothing. Then out. "

However, Matt Jones said: "Matt Hancock was one of the best health secretaries during one of the most trying times in history. And what’s more he is genuinely a top guy."
