I'm A Celebrity 2020 location officially confirmed by ITV and it sounds amazing

After much speculation, the filming location for the new series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here has been officially confirmed by ITV.

It was revealed at the start of this month, after doubts were cast about the new series due to the coronavirus pandemic, that it would switch to British soil and since then rumours have flown as to where it would be based.

The top contender quickly became Gwrych Castle in Aberegle, North Wales and show bosses have now confirmed that is where hosts Ant and Dec and this year's celebrities will set up camp as they compete to be crowned, for the first time ever, King or Queen of the Castle.

Revealing all, Richard Cowles, Director of Entertainment at ITV Studios said: “The Australian jungle is such an integral part of the show it was a big challenge to find a UK location where we could continue to deliver what viewers love about I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

"But Gwrych will definitely do that; the Castle sits in an amazing and atmospheric setting on a hillside overlooking the Irish Sea. While there will be plenty of changes required as we move from New South Wales in Australia to North Wales in the UK, we are really excited to see how we can adapt the format and make the Castle our new home for a very special 20th series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! this Autumn.”

The rumoured I'm A Celebrity line-up for this year includes everyone from Jessie J to Connor McGregor and the celebrities might have some company though as The Sun reports that the castle is home to a 'floating woman in white', thought to be Countess of Dundonald, who died in 1924.

Paranormal investigators have also claimed to have recorded voices on numerous occasions, with other ghosts at Gwrych said to be a servant girl who died falling off a horse on the estate and past gamekeepers.

Dr Mark Baker, Chair of the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust said “I’m absolutely delighted that I’m A Celebrity has chosen Gwrych Castleto be its UK location for the 2020 series. Gwrych Castle is a beautiful grade I listed 19th county house and a must-see destination for tourists visiting Wales.

"I’m A Celebrity being here will really help support Gwrych Castle and its ongoing restoration as well as giving the region a much-needed economic boost.”
