Queen of the Jungle Jill Scott has shared how she smuggled campmate Owen Warner extra rice during their stint on the ITV reality show.
The 35-year-old beat Hollyoaks actor Owen and former health secretary Matt Hancock to be crowned Queen of the Jungle on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! on Sunday evening.
Jill, who helped the Lionesses to win the Euros this summer, explained her close friendship with the famously hungry soap star in the camp, in her first in-depth interview since exiting the jungle over the weekend.
She said: “He felt like my little brother in there and I was always trying to give him an extra spoonful of rice but us three have got plans to meet up and Chris as well.”
She continued: “From the first day when I said, ‘You’re on Hollyoaks’ and he said, ‘You play football don’t you?’ I think from then we just had that connection.
“Sport can connect you in so many ways and me, Owen and Baba had so many great conversations.
“They’re massive Leicester and Arsenal fans and I would talk about Man City and Sunderland and it would just get you through hours waiting for the food, discussing who the best ever 11 Premier League players were.”
Former Health Secretary Matt Hancock came third to the pair in the jungle final, having made it there against the odds and amid a public outcry when his signing was first announced.
Jill shared her own experience from within the camp from when Mr Hancock first walked in alongside comedian Seann Walsh.
She said: “When we all put on that uniform, it was all one team and the aim of the whole show was we needed to get stars to provide for the rest of the celebrities.
“Do you know what? He faced the trials head on and he said he did 10 in total and he was coming back with maximum stars.
“Going into it my knowledge of politics isn’t high or anything so me and Owen were probably asking a lot of questions and learning things for the first time.
“But in terms of being a campmate and providing for the camp and bringing back stars, I thought he did a good job.”
Early on in his time in the jungle, Mr Hancock told the other contestants he was looking for ‘a bit of forgiveness’.
Mr Hancock and girlfriend Gina Coladangelo led the I'm A Celebrity campmates out to a star-studded party in Australia on Monday night.
Around 8 hours after arriving back from camp in the JW Marriott hotel he was seen at a private drinks event with other contestants including winner Jill and Sue Cleaver.
