Some people should not have money to waste. One of those people is comedian Matt Rife. Why, you ask? Because he just helped purchase the Warren Occult Museum in Connecticut, home to Annabelle the Demon Doll and a myriad of supernatural items.
The TikTok comedian known for his crowd work (and not his actual jokes) used the money that people unwittingly gave him to purchase the museum alongside influencer/ghost hunter Elton Castee. This is a bad idea for multiple reasons. One being that I don’t trust either of these two to honor the wishes of the Warrens. Ed and Lorraine Warren had specific rules for their museum and how to keep the artifacts within safe and out of reach from the public.
I already didn’t agree with the Annabelle tour that resulted in a fire in New Orleans, a man dying, and rumors that the doll was missing. Look, I’ve seen The Conjuring movies. I’ve learned about this couple, I am not someone who is going to mess with their belongings. We cannot say the same about people who have made their fame and fortune on the internet doing whatever it takes to go viral. And being haunted by the demon doll would get you numbers on social media apps.
“I have officially purchased Ed and Lorraine Warren’s home and Occult Museum, including being the legal guardian for at least the next 5 years, of the entire haunted collection including THE ANNABELLE DOLL, with my good friend @eltoncastee!!,” Rife posted on social media, with an image of himself and Annabelle…. “If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with the paranormal and all things haunted. You also may know The Conjuring films are my favorite scary movies of all time. So I’m incredibly honored to have taken over one of the most prominent properties in paranormal history.”
If you are such a “fan,” you’d know that you’re not supposed to even take pictures of/with Annabelle! You have to have permission and even then, why would you risk that and post it on social media?! I also love haunted stories and learning about things that the Warrens did. That doesn’t mean I ever had the hope or desire to own it!
I’m glad that Rife is wearing a shirt that says “God’s Country” in the picture because he’s going to need it owning all of those haunted things and I do fear that the Warrens legacy is now in the hands of two people who will do anything for the bit on social media…
