‘I had an experience there. Scary’: San Antonio woman stays at this Hilton hotel during full moon. Then her phone captures something ‘spooky’

A lot of spooky things can happen when you’re staying at a hotel. Sometimes, these things can be so eerie that you might think the hotel is haunted.

There are many hotels in the United States that people believe to be haunted. For example, The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, was famously so unsettling that it inspired Stephen King’s novel The Shining.

While a guest at a hotel like this might expect the occasional bump in the night, visitors to other hotels may be shocked by an eerie sound. Now, a TikToker says she had a spooky experience staying at a San Antonio hotel. She’s not the only one.

What Went Wrong With This Hilton Hotel Visit?

In a video with over 65,000 views, TikTok user Jules (@nalgasychisme) shows the hallway of the Emily Morgan Hotel, a Hilton Hotel, in San Antonio, Texas.

In the text overlaying the video, she asks viewers if they’ve heard “the rumors” about the hotel. To demonstrate these rumors, she ventures over to the elevator. It is making a strange squeaking noise. This is accompanied by the sound of dragging chains.

“Hello?” she asks in the text overlaying the video, implying that she’s not alone.

Suspecting something is wrong with the elevator, she calls it—and it appears to work normally. Still, she says she was unsettled.

“I felt chills and like I was being watched,” she writes in the overlay text.

What Happened?

In the comments section, users immediately tried to identify the strange sounds. Many attributed them to a possible haunting.

“That sounds like the old hospital beds being wheeled out,” wrote a user.

“Rumors? No honey, you’re dealing with actual spirits,” shared another.

Others said they had similar experiences.

“I’ve stayed there; loved it; I remember the creepy sounds vividly,” stated a user.

“We stayed here and let me tell you nope not again,” added a second.

Is This Hotel Really Haunted?

In Jules’ case, the sounds that she’s hearing can be easily explained by the use of the elevator. While she says that the button light wasn’t on, implying that this would mean the elevator wasn’t working, the light only illuminates after the button has been pressed.

The elevator may have simply been going to another floor. Chain sounds and squeaking are common for elevators.

That said, there are many who believe this hotel to be haunted.

On the hotel’s website, there is a blog post dubbing the destination “America’s Most Haunted Hotel.” The blog post claims that guests have seen apparitions such as a “vanishing nurse” and “haunting footsteps on the 9th floor.” There are also reports of strange elevator behavior, such as the elevator making strange, unexpected stops on the 7th floor—“a floor unoccupied and inaccessible to guests.”

As for why it’s so “haunted,” the site says the hotel’s proximity to the Alamo could play a role.

What Other Haunting Experiences Have Happened At This Hotel?

Jules and other TikTok users aren’t the only ones to have strange things happen to them at this hotel.

On other review sites, people have shared their own supposedly haunted experiences.

“14th floor is haunted, heard banging one of the nights [from] the hallway,” recalled one Google reviewer. “When I went to check it stopped, until I started to walk away then it started again. Friendly ghost it seems.”

“I did hear lots of footsteps and doors closing,” offered another.

That said, other reviewers weren’t so thrilled about staying in a haunted hotel.

“I did not know that it was a haunted hotel. Whether you believe in it or not, I was getting phone calls to my room with no one on the other line,” alleged another Google reviewer. “I had to unplug the phone.”
