'I felt gutted and sick' - Businessman's shock after £7K worth of tools stolen from van

A Langley Mill business owner has been left feeling 'gutted' after £7,000 worth of tools were stolen from his van.

Mark Anderson who owns S A Concrete & Cutting services Ltd had his van broken into on Saturday evening (March 30) at around 7:30pm.

Personal items and brand new equipment were stolen from the company van.

Mr Anderson, 48, said the discovery was made when an employee went to pick up his van the following day, DerbyshireLive reports.

He said the back of one of the vehicles looked like it had been "peeled open like a tin can" with a hammer and crowbar.

Equipment stolen included a Hilti DD250 core drill rig, a Hilti TE80 drill/breaker, a Weka DK13 hand held diamond drill and various small hand tools.

Mr Anderson, who is one of the directors of the firm, revealed he had marked the tools as stolen so that if anyone did take them, they'd find it hard to sell them on.

He claims the thief covered up nearby CCTV cameras with a plank of wood.

He is also offering a reward for anyone who thinks they have any information about the tools.

He said: "I felt gutted and sick, I still do to be fair.

"Everyone is demoralised.

"It looks like he has ripped the back of the van open. We found a hammer at the back at the bottom so we're assuming he's smashed into it with a hammer and peeled it open like a tin can.

"All those things cost money but he isn't going to sell it anywhere else."

Mark said the company has had to hire another van temporarily and revert back to using old equipment.

Anyone who thinks they have any information about the theft is asked to contact Mark on 07970 570092.
