A woman is vowing to move out of Florida after she got robbed not once, but twice, after a trip to Walmart resulted in her losing her purse—and car.
In a viral clip, TikToker @guynabella shares her devastation at waking up and finding her husband’s car missing from their driveway. But it was no mystery.
“Florida, count your days, because I am done with you,” @guynabella begins in her video. According to her, she lost her purse, which contained her car keys and wallet, at the Walmart store on 45th Street.
@guynabella says she made a social media post claiming she wanted her car keys back at the very least. However, when she woke up, she found that her car was in her driveway–but her husband’s 2016 Nissan Sentra was not.
“So at three o’clock in the morning, someone came here, in my house. They found my wallet, that has my ID apparently,” she says. “They came here and robbed my car.”
She continues that the thief had the $1,000 cash she had in her wallet, and questions why they had to go as far as taking her car, too.
“That money was for something, you enjoy that,” she says of the cash. “Leave my car keys, leave my purse, everything in the car that you stole…do the right thing. Park it somewhere.”
“I am moving out of Florida,” the TikToker, who lives in West Palm Beach, concludes. “This [expletive] has never happened to me.”
She adds in the caption that they did call the cops and filed a report.
‘It’s not just Florida’
The Floridian’s post earned her 42,000 views, but many didn’t agree with her that it was a regional thing. According to several viewers, this issue wasn’t limited to South Florida.
“Just a note, this happens everywhere, not just Florida,” one comment read. Another said it was her fault for losing her purse at Walmart in the first place. “How do you blame Florida for your carelessness? Make it Make sense,” they wrote.
“They have your address and instead of returning it they steal the car that’s crazy,” a third user shared.
Several viewers urged @guynabella to get cameras, and others wondered why she didn’t have any in the first place.
In a follow-up post, @guynabella shows a cop car at her house, presumably there to take her report. With the thief knowing her address, several viewers were alarmed for her safety. She added in a comment that she did change the locks on her door.
She has not made another update video as of Friday.
Is it really a Florida thing?
While the Sunshine State often bears the reputation of wild stuff happening often, it doesn’t rank No. 1 for auto theft. It still makes the top three, however. According to statistics by the Insurance Information Institute, California took the cake for the highest number of motor vehicle thefts in 2023. Texas came in at No. 2, with Florida ranking No. 3. The report also listed the most frequently stolen vehicles, with No. 1 being the Hyundai Elantra.
@guynabella this shit getting weird out here YES WE DID CALL THE COPS AND FILLED A REPORT FOR MY PURSE THAT WAS STOLEN YESTERDAY AND ALSO CALLED TODAY TO REPORT MY CAR…
