Brian Reid found it hard to break into the Rangers team after beng signed by Graeme Souness.
In fact, he only made six appearances over five years. Part of that was down to injuries, but he also had to compete with stalwarts like Richard Gough and John Brown.
However, the former Albion Rovers boss managed Luke Graham when the Dundee defender was on loan at Rovers in League Two.
Rangers are interested in signing the 22-year-old this summer and Reid is convinced he can become a starter.
“It was far tougher when I was trying to break into that team," he told the Daily Record.

“And unfortunately I did my cruciate not long after I signed with Rangers, which knocked me back a year.
"But look, if Luke does end up at Ibrox, he should be going there with the idea that he is going to be a starter. They’re going to have to pay some kind of fee for him.
“And if a club like that pays a sizeable chunk of money for you, they're not doing that as a project. They're doing it to actually play you. So that has to be the mentality you have.
“Obviously no manager will guarantee that you're going to play every week because things can happen, such as injuries as I know myself.
“But I’d be confident in Luke doing that. Being Scottish, he’ll understand what’s required to play at a club like Rangers.”
