I can’t wait to pretend I’ve finished Silksong, just like I do with Hollow Knight

Hollow Knight is a fun game, but I have to admit I never finished it. And honestly, I wish I had, because now, when I see my save file with 20 hours of gameplay, I have no idea where I have to go. No clue. I don't even remember how to play the game because it's been more than a year since I dropped it.

There's no point in trying to move forward from where I am because I will probably take another 20 hours to figure it out. I don't remember the mechanics, I don't remember the map, I don't remember anything.

Now the sequel, Silksong, is around the corner. Why should I restart the original now? I can instead start playing Silksong next week and never finish it, just like I did with Hollow Knight. It's probably much more fun than replaying the first entry, right?

Jokes aside, I feel like Silksong and Hollow Knight are the kinds of game experiences we maybe don't have to finish to enjoy. Sure, they are much more rewarding if you finish them, but I think all of us are guilty of not finishing games, especially long ones that are over 20 hours. I don't play super-long games through to the end, which doesn't mean I don't have fun with them.

You shouldn't avoid a game just because you're not sure you're going to finish it. You may be surprised and enjoy it, just like Jeanne d'Arc surprised me. It's a 30-hour-long tactics title I never thought I would like, and I still completed it. It was fun, and I would've never had that fun if I hadn't started it, afraid of never finishing it.

That's why I'll still play Silksong even though I never finished Hollow Knight. I still have some battle scars from all the dying and backtracking, and something was frustrating enough to make me stop playing it, though my mind completely erased that thing. But Hollow Knight was fun. That's enough to make me think I should play Silksong, even if that frustrating thing happens again and my save file ends up collecting pixel dust at 55% completion.

So if Silksong is anything like Hollow Knight, which it should logically be, it will be brutal and difficult, but fun. It will be a good experience to have in such a highly anticipated game. I feel like it's a must-have experience since I really enjoy indie games, so I'm all in for Silksong. If I don't finish it, I really don't care. I want to spend some good times with the game.
