Husband and wife-run firm that makes buildings more energy efficient targets further revenue rise

A company run by a husband and wife team that helps make buildings more energy efficient is targeting a further rise in its revenue.

Making Energy Greener (MEG) is on track to post a revenue of £8.5m for its current financial year to the end of March, up from £6.2m during the prior 12 months.

The company, which has based in Liverpool and Preston, had previously posted a revenue of £1.7m in 2020.

MEG's headcount has also surged from four to 58 employees over the last four years.

The firm owned and operated by husband and wife team Rebecca Armstrong and Craig Stewart and works with housing associations, local authorities, landlords, estate agents and energy suppliers.

Rebecca Armstrong, who serves as the company's managing director, said: "As a family business, we worked tirelessly to support our staff members not only through the pandemic in 20/21, but also through the difficulties and challenges we faced this year due to the delay in the start of the Government's ECO schemes caused by, amongst other things, the war in Ukraine and the change in Prime Ministers.

"Our record growth is thanks in no small part to our incredible team! We are fully focused on a greener future and helping the government reach its Net Zero Target, but the hard work has only just begun and we are now pushing towards extended growth in 2023/24 and beyond."

MEG recently rebranded from its previous name of Mersey Eco Grants.

Mrs Armstrong added: "Our rebrand represents a new way of living across the country, with it more important than ever before to have energy efficient homes and communities, not only for the winter, but also to regulate temperatures in the summer.

"MEG’s vision for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future will see us continue our work within the Liverpool City Region, Lancashire, the North West and the whole of the UK to bring about a ‘different way of living’, which is vital due to the rising cost of living and the green agenda."
