The Hurst Fire, which has been burning since Tuesday, has shown progress in containment efforts. As of Thursday night, it is now more than one-third contained, a significant improvement from the 10% containment reported earlier in the day by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

California Governor Gavin Newsom's office issued a social media post urging residents to prioritize safety and remain vigilant amidst the ongoing fire situation. Residents who are returning home are advised to exercise extreme caution and refrain from drinking the water until further notice from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

Here is the latest update on the major fires in California as of Thursday night:

  • Palisades Fire: Approximately 19,978 acres burned with 6% containment
  • Eaton Fire: Approximately 13,690 acres burned with 0% containment
  • Hurst Fire: Approximately 771 acres burned with 37% containment
  • Lidia Fire: Approximately 348 acres burned with 60% containment
  • Kenneth Fire: Approximately 960 acres burned with 0% containment

The firefighting efforts continue as crews work tirelessly to contain the wildfires and protect lives and properties. It is crucial for residents in the affected areas to stay informed, follow evacuation orders, and cooperate with authorities to ensure everyone's safety during this challenging time.
