Jacolby George is back in the Miami Hurricanes' Class of 2021.
The four-star wide receiver from Plantation announced his oral commitment to Miami on Wednesday through an video shared on Instagram by Gold Feet Global, a Fort Lauderdale athletic training company. George then confirmed the news on Twitter.
George, who was previously committed to the Hurricanes last year, becomes the 15th member of Miami's 2021 recruiting class. He picked the Hurricanes from a top group which also included the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Penn State Nittany Lions. The Under Armour All-American previously planned to announce his commitment Saturday before abruptly pushing up the decision without warning.
The 5-11, 160-pound receiver first popped on teams' radars last year when he impressed Miami coaches at a camp in Coral Gables. George landed his first scholarship offer at the camp and then visited campus three times in less than three weeks. After the third visit, George, who still didn't have any other offers, committed to the Hurricanes.
George stuck by his pledge for five months before decommitting later in the year. Since George decommitted, Miami replaced both its offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach. George became a priority target for the new staff, which was able to finally reel him in Wednesday even as about a dozen offers piled up for the South Florida standout.
As a junior, George was a first-team all-Broward County selection by the Miami Herald for Classes 8A-6A. He finished the 2019 season with 46 catches for 1,030 yards and 12 touchdowns to help the Colonels reach the postseason. He has committed to play in the Under Armour All-America Game next year.
The No. 178 overall player in the 247Sports.com composite rankings for the 2021 class, George immediately becomes the second highest ranked player in the Hurricanes' 15-man class behind only Miami Central guard Laurence Seymore. George is the first true wide receiver in the class, joining tight ends Kahlil Brantley and Elijah Arroyo.
