Hurricane G dead: Tributes pour in for New York rapper

Rapper Hurricane G - who has worked with the likes of P Diddy and Redman - has died leaving behind a daughter.

Tributes from fans and the music world are pouring in for Gloria Rodriguez, after her heartbroken family announced the sad news on Sunday.

The cause of the hip-hop legend's death has not been revealed, writes the Mirror.

EPMD’s Erick Sermon, who is the father of Gloria's daughter, led the tributes as he wrote on Instagram: "My heart is hardened today. One of my good friends… my oldest daughters mother passed away today.

"#HURRICANEGLORIA was also a legend in her own right in the Hiphop community. One of the first puertorican female rappers. She rapped with me. @redmangilla she paved the way.

"@keithmurray @diddy she was in all the Hiphop magazines with all the top females at the time.. #stretchandbobito loved a song that she did called “MILKY” She will be missed all around the world.

"I can’t believe this. Pray for us. Beautiful blessings. She was a beautiful person a wonderful mother as real as they come. We love u Gr."

Friends commented on Erick's post sharing their condolences. Producer Kid Capri wrote: "God bless her", while DJ Premier typed: "Iconic EMCEES of our time. We Love You Gloria!!!"

Another wrote: "She was a legend. So much style".

Gloria's career spanned for an impressive 30 years.

She rose to fame back in the 90s and scored a hit with her 1997 single release "Somebody Else" which went in a number 10 on the Billboard charts.
