Hunter students receive Higher School Certificate written exam timetables

Sarah Mitchell

HUNTER year 12 students have received their long-awaited personalised timetables for the Higher School Certificate written exams, which start in six months.

The written exams begin with English Paper 1 on Wednesday October 12 and finish on Friday November 4 with Food Technology and Design and Technology.

Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said receiving the timetable marked the final stage of the school journey for year 12 students.

"The release of the HSC timetable confirms for the class of 2022 that they are on the home straight of their high school education," Ms Mitchell said.

"These students have managed an incredibly challenging final two years of school. They should be proud of what they've achieved and I wish them all the best in their HSC exams."

This year's written exam timetable spans 18 days and involves around 76,000 students, 126 exams and 780 exam centres.

NSW Education Standards Authority chief executive Paul Martin said planning the timetable was a complex process and designed to ensure every student had an opportunity to show what they know.

"Each year we work to ensure that the HSC timetable for each student is as fair and equitable as possible, so everyone has the opportunity to be at their best for the written exams," Mr Martin said.

"NESA has been working hard to consolidate the lessons we learnt from running the HSC during a pandemic and are ready to put what we have learnt in place to further foolproof the HSC for 2022."

Students will receive their Australian Tertiary Admission Ranks on December 15.
