Hunt on for missing cat Mia after neighbour chases 'two women who stole her'

The hunt is on for a missing cat which a neighbour said was ‘stolen’ by two women on Sunday evening.

The cat, a British Short Hair called Mia, was apparently taken from outside its home just off Clifton Triangle in Bristol, on Sunday evening.

One neighbour in Upper Berkeley Place said he chased the two women, who had put Mia into a white box.

But they ran off and managed to escape.

The seven-year-old cat has been owned by Linda Jayne Hatcher and her family for five years, and she said she is absolutely distraught at what happened.

“My husband and I had gone out for the evening and when we came back our neighbour told us what had happened,” she said.

“He said he was in his kitchen and looked up to see these two women picking up Mia and then they put her into a white box.

“He realised what was happening and ran out after them, but they managed to outrun him,” she added.

She said the two women who took the cat were of Chinese origin. “When he told us this, my husband remembered that on Friday evening, he saw two Chinese women stroking Mia when she was on the wall outside, so it appears they came back,” she added.

Mrs Hatcher said she is hoping to source CCTV video of the area from neighbouring properties, and is appealing to anyone in Bristol who has seen Mia, or has information to contact Bristol Live on 0117 9343331.
