Hunt for ‘tattooed man’ after British woman’s body found in suitcase

  • The body of 38-year-old Scottish woman, Elisabeth-Jane Ross, was discovered in a suitcase in a derelict building in Kypseli, Athens, on 18 July.
  • Greek police are searching for a heavily tattooed homeless man, who lives in the building where Ms Ross was found and is accused of a previous knifepoint attack on another woman.
  • Ms Ross had told friends she was meeting 'American friends' in Kypseli three days before her body was discovered, but police have been unable to trace these individuals.
  • Messages were reportedly sent from Ms Ross's phone after her suspected death, including one saying she was going to a Greek island, which police believe was an attempt to mislead investigators.
  • Police are investigating whether foul play was involved in her death, which is believed to have occurred five to seven days before her body was found, and are awaiting toxicology results.
