Hundreds take part in Colour Dash in Phoenix Park in aid of the Irish Cancer Society

Enthusiastic walkers, joggers and runners have today injected some colour into their lives to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society.

Each kilometre of the 5km stretch represents a different aspect of cancer - either a cancer that people need help fighting against, or something to be celebrated.

The first kilometre, yellow, represented Lung Cancer. The second, green, represented Bowel Cancer. The third was purple, which represented 'Cancer Survivorship', to be celebrated.

The fourth and fifth kilometres were represented by the colours blue and pink respectively, which represented Prostate Cancer and Breast Cancer.

The weather luckily held up for participants as they were treated to a dry summers afternoon in the heart of the park, despite thunderstorms being forecast for the capital.
