Hundreds of people queue on the streets of Paisley to get vaccinated

People over 40 have flocked to Paisley's Lagoon Leisure Centre to be vaccinated this morning.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is holding vaccination drop-ins as part of the latest stage in its fight against Covid-19.

Six months into the vaccination programme, and with nearly one million people having received their first dose, NHSGGC is opening drop-in vaccination centres for people aged 40 years and over in various neighbourhoods.

If you are 40 or over and have not yet had your first dose of vaccine, or have waited more than ten weeks for your second dose of Astra Zeneca – in other words, if you had your first dose in March – you can head along to one of the centres.

People will be seen on a first come, first served basis and there will be a set capacity each day.

Future dates will be made available if required and the health board will use its will use social media channels to keep people regularly updated about potentially busy periods at each of the centres.

The drop-in at the Lagoon Leisure Centre, Christie Street, opened at 9am today will run until 6pm.

Buddies started patiently queuing from early this morning, with hundreds of people waiting on Mill Street, reaching as far as Seedhill Road.

People are invited along to the Lagoon again tomorrow during the same time period; on Friday you can head along to Barrhead Foundry between 9am and 3pm and on Saturday Renfrew Leisure Centre and Johnstone Town Hall will both operate from 9am to 3pm.
