Hundreds of new Bristol Covid-19 cases confirmed- latest breakdown

There have been more than 400 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed across the Bristol region in the latest daily figures.

Of the 452 new cases across all four local authorities of the Bristol region, 231 were reported in the city itself.

The 452 new cases of the virus mark a decrease from yesterday's 535 recorded cases.

South Gloucestershire recorded 91 new infections, while 81 were recorded in Bath and North East Somerset and 49 in North Somerset.

The new cases in the Bristol region are part of a total of 24,470 recorded across the UK in the last 24 hours, bringing the nationwide total to 5,880,667.

Breakdown of positive test results

The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results in brackets.

Bristol - 46,652 (+231)

North Somerset - 14,660 (+49)

South Gloucestershire - 23,312 (+91)

Bath and North East Somerset - 8,953 (+81)

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new deaths in brackets.

Bristol - 494 (-)

North Somerset - 319 (+1)

South Gloucestershire - 352 (-)

UK figures

There were 65 deaths recorded today, within 28 days of a positive test, across the UK.

More than 129,000 have lost their lives across the UK since the pandemic began, but the number of fatalities has not seen the dramatic spike that case numbers have in recent weeks, which has been linked to the success of the vaccination rollout.

There were 911 people admitted to hospital across the UK in the latest figures, with the total over the previous recorded six days now sitting at 492,293. There are 869 patients in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of people who have received their first vaccine dose has nearly reached 47 million, with the current total number of vaccinations given sitting at 85,196,986.

There have also now been over 38 million who have received their second jab.
